About Indian Creek

Dennis Barron, originally from Alpharetta GA, established Indian Creek Angus in 1995 in Franklin County GA. Dennis, who is a third generation cattlemen, has been working on cattle farms since his youth. Additionally, he is the Broker/Owner of Barron Properties Real Estate Company established in 1989. After purchasing the farm in 1995, Dennis decided to go organic in 2009 and has been raising Certified Naturally Grown Grass Fed Beef for almost ten years now. Denny Barron, Dennis’s oldest son, has been working on the Farm since 1995 and joined the Grass Fed Beef business in 2010. Denny has worked on horse and cattle farms his entire life and provides day-to-day operations for the maintenance, security, and construction of the Farm. Denny is also a licensed real estate agent. Laura Barron McCook, Dennis’s oldest daughter, joined the family business in 2013 after spending many years raising three children as a stay-home mom. Laura, who is also a licensed realtor, handles the phones, emails, and marketing for the company. In recognition of Dennis’s youngest son, Josh Barron, we want to remember Josh, a graduate of the University of Georgia, who grew up on the Farm. Josh had returned home to the Farm after graduating from UGA to join the family business. Josh passed away in 2016 but his spirit lives with us and is represented in our daily actions at the Farm.

At Indian Creek Angus, we believe that cattle should be raised humanely, in a natural and low stress environment. Our cattle are given no growth hormones or steroids, they are not fattened on grain, and they are not fed antibiotics.

Indian Creek Angus cattle are raised on the rich grasses of Northeast Georgia, with locally grown, pesticide free hay as a supplement during the winter. Our herd has grown from the original registered Angus herd to include other excellent beef breeds like Hereford and Charolais. In addition, we have

incorporated the Murray Grey Breed from Australia through our first Murray Grey bull, Kyle along with our second Murray Grey bull, Vern. Vern was purchased from Vernon Hochstetler, an Amish Grass Fed Beef producer in Indiana. Murray Grey cattle are considered one of the best breeds to convert grass to beef. The breed originated from an Angus and Shorthorn parent and their coats are Grey. Kyle and Vern have now sired well over 100 calves on our farm and you can see the various shades of the beautiful grey in all of their coats.

At Indian Creek Angus, we partner with a USDA Certified processor to process our beef. We Dry Age our beef for 14 to 21 days. Dry aging makes the meat much more flavorful and tender, but the beef also loses weight during the aging process. For this reason, dry aging is not generally used in commercial beef production; only top-tier steak houses Dry Age their beef. Dry aging also requires more work from the processor. Because some weight is lost during the aging process, the cost per pound is higher than grocery store beef. The processor is the best judge of how long the beef can age for optimum flavor and tenderness. Every beef will be different because of size, age, and climactic factors. Our beef is available at the Farm in Cumming GA and through various farms and stores throughout the North Georgia area.

We invite you to visit our 340 acre farm, see the green pastures where our cattle graze, and learn of the benefits of 100% Grass Fed Beef. We are located an hour from Atlanta in Northeast GA and are the oldest producing Grass Fed Pastured Beef Farm in our area.

Our goal is to provide top quality beef to you and your family from our family and farm. Thank you for visiting our website and we do hope that you will enjoy our beef for many years to come!
